Welcome to 2016! Happy New Year’s from Stepping Stone Home Health Care.
We are now in the midst of cold and flu season. A few reminders for you and your friends living here at Boulder Estates:
• Remember to wash your hands, this is the #1 way of stopping the spread of infection
• Continue to drink plenty of fluids, eat a healthy diet and rest if you are ill
• If you do not feel well please stay in your apartment, you may order a room tray from the dining room for your meals
• Call your doctor, family or nursing staff from Stepping Stone Home Health Care if you are not feeling well
New Year’s resolutions often are related to health and wellness, either your physical and/or your emotional health. New Year’s resolutions often revolve around starting or stopping some type of habit. A few ideas of resolutions you may want to consider include:
• Eating a healthier diet/losing weight- A few ways to do this could be to:
o choose ½ portions for your meals
o choose fresh fruits and vegetables vs. processed and canned foods
• Exercise- A few ways to help you stay motivated to exercise could include:
o inviting a friend to join you
o Setting a realistic goal
o Trying an exercise class offered at Boulder Estates or trying to use the exercise room
• Drinking more water-
o Did you know that most people do not drink enough water? It’s a rule of thumb to try to drink 8 (8 ounce) glasses of water each day. Try to make a conscious effort to add one extra glass each day.
• Sleeping more-
o Most adults do not get enough rest. It is recommended that adults get 7-8 hours of sleep each night to feel our very best.
